The shooting club preserve offers expansive open fields and woodland cover undisturbed by traffic or roads against the backdrop of the Catskills. Mohonk Mountain House
Historic Hyde Park
In addition to its natural beauty, the Hudson Valley is steeped in history. Vanderbilt Mansion, located in historic Hyde Park, was a seasonal residence of the Vanderbilts. When touring this 54-room, gilded-age mansion, you get a look into the opulence of the era. The estate’s interior is adorned with exotic paneling, antique tapestries, and imported marble. The home is a masterpiece of gilded-age architecture that can’t be missed.
Also located in Hyde Park is the Roosevelt Estate. This family home of former President Franklin Roosevelt was originally built in the late 1700s but was renovated into the Colonial Revival–style mansion that it is today in the early 1900s. The main house, known as Springwood, offered a needed escape to FDR during his time as president and, on occasion, was used to host foreign dignitaries, royalty, and many top cabinet members from Roosevelt’s presidency. A visit to the Roosevelt estate offers a unique look into history that helped shape our nation.
Arts & Culture
When visiting the Hudson Valley, be sure to make time to explore the lively arts scene. We recommend checking out the varied collections at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center in Poughkeepsie, as well as the contemporary assemblages from the 1960s to the present at Dia: Beacon in Beacon, New York. Throughout the Hudson Valley, you can also happen upon hundreds of other small galleries tucked into the communities that make the Hudson Valley such a fantastic destination just outside the city.

Fall Foliage Tours
Fall is a great time to visit many parts of the Hudson Valley to take in and experience the vibrant fall colors as autumn leaves begin to present themselves. The leaves usually start to change during the month of September and peak in the middle of October. There is no shortage of parks where you can take in the rich fall colors. One of the region’s most visited hiking destinations is Kaaterskill Falls. During your 1.4-mile roundtrip hike to and from the multi-tier waterfall, you will be surrounded by the beauty and peacefulness of the Great Northern Catskills. Another favorite destination to take in the fall foliage is the Sky Top Tower on the Shawangunk Ridge in Mohonk Preserve. The tower stands at the top of the ridge overlooking the preserve’s 6,400 acres, providing impressive views of the surrounding area.
When traveling by private helicopter charter with HeliFlite, you’ll have the time and flexibility to experience all the Hudson Valley has to offer.
